Last modified: 2016-11-18
Abstract
This research aimed to describe the improvement of teacher professionalism through peer group learning in Kartasura Sub District. This study was a descriptive qualitative research. The methods of collecting data used were interview, observation and documentation. Technique of analyzing data used was an interactive analysis technique encompassing: data reduction, data display, and data verification. The result of research showed that the teachers with professional status were faced with the complex problems in implementing the learning in the field. Thus, the learning outcome could not be maximal, as indicated with many (60%) students reaching the value below KKM (Minimum Passing Criterion), and only 40% reaching the KKM value. The conclusion was that the professional status of teacher did not ensure that the teacher could create high-quality learning. For that reason, the professional teacher was recommended to sharpen their thinking and ability, among others, through peer group learning, in addition to attending trainings, workshop and seminars all of which supported the realization of high-quality learning.
