Abstract
The purpose of this research is not only to describe and analyze media being implemented in grade four of primary school in teching social science, but also to develope learning media suitable to student’s characteristic in elementary school, especially in improving both student’s motivation and their achievement. The method of this research is Research and Development. The data collected come from students in fourth grade of SDN Pedurungan Kidul 01 as experiment class and SDN Kalicari 03-Semarang as control class. Observation sheets, students’ responses questionaire, and test result are techniques used to collect the data. The products developed are learning plan, student task sheet, and test instrument assessed and approved by the experts coming from both university and school. The practicality of this research is determined by teacher capability in managing the class and learner’s response to guiding inquiry-based interactive multimedia. Meanwhile, the result of Post-test, T-test, and N-gain test will show the effectiveness of this study. The findings uncover that this learning media is capable of enhancing students’ motivation and achievement in learning social science. It is, therefore, the development of interactive multimedia based on guiding inquiry is valid, practical and effective. Besides, this can be used to increase the students’ motivation and achievement in learning social science at fourth grade of elementary school.
