The Use of Story Telling In Teaching Reading

Abstract


Reading is an important skill or expertise of the English language. Reading is very necessary for a student because it will help the students to understand the core of reading activity. Many students are still struggling to understand the reading. The problem does not stop here because there are many thing faced by the elementary school English teachers such as the unsatisfactory results, or students who still have difficulties in English reading comprehension. The achievement target in this research is a prototype implementation of the teaching of Reading with Story Telling in the 5th grade students. The method used in this research is a descriptive qualitative method. The subjects in this study were students in grade 5. This subject is considered as the beginner in English learning for the umpteenth time they get to know and learn English. Data were collected by interviews and observations regarding the implementation of Story Telling in learning and documentation. This research is expected to produce an output that contributes to the education field.
